A Better Word of the Year for 2019: Energy Poverty
It’s not only an issue for developing countries. It rapidly makes itself at home here in Europe as well where every winter old folks too poor to pay for heating die from freezing. Energy poverty hurts a lot as no power or heating exposes you to consequences that will show very fast on you. Having no phone, no TV or no Computer is maybe not very nice but no big deal in the end. But not having hot water for washing or a fridge in order to store food is degrading you very quickly as a person. Making energy more expensive is the most inhumane thing one can do. It kills.
