A ‘Carbon Fee’ Will Not Save Hawaii from Climate Change
But it will save local politicians from emptier tax coffers. But then again, if the carbon fee pulls down the economy enough this might not even be a moneymaker. But why would politicians care as this fixes two things for them. They appear as doing anything, no matter how sensible or the lack thereof it might be. And they can also wear the green badge protecting them for a millisecond from green activists’ ire. It’s buying a breather for themselves at the expense of the public at large. But has this ever been different?
