A Controversial Play — and What It Taught Me About the Psychology of Climate

And up there he stands and can spout his nonsense unchallenged. I strongly doubt he ever talked to someone who can explain the science about climate and what influences it. What he and those around him don’t understand is that although there are very few people who will go the extra mile to research something to the point of developing an opinion based on fact and science, those few who do deeply care about that. Fundamentally people care about truth or whatever they think the truth is. Most of those who go the extra mile think that others must see the truth if only the others knew what they know. But that’s not how religions work. Religions like the climate cult work through narratives, delivered by those standing on a podium speaking through cute stories. Facts have no place in that.
