When I hear “liberalized markets” and Germany in the same sentence again I am going to scream. If this is a free market, the minister can maybe say something like “we would support” or “we would welcome” but it must be the decision of commercial players if they want a terminal or not.
Germany will decide by the end of the year where to locate its first terminal for receiving liquefied natural gas (LNG), German economy and energy minister Peter Altmaier said Tuesday. That could be good news for the U.S. economy—and for U.S. political influence.
