A Global Natural Gas Market Is Starting to Emerge

Global Natural Gas Market – yeahh right. How many times have I heard this and then, boom, it all falls apart and we run towards the next folly. How would you clear an excess cargo of LNG if you have no off-taker? The cargo is on the water and moving. What price do you apply that guarantees you a buyer? For the moment, you are toast if you don’t have a lot of stuff in place. And even then its often a nightmare. Playing with financial gimmicks does not make markets. Move real volumes and come back to tell me again if you think its a global market.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
