A Hopeful Look at China

China, China, China. Just today, I saw a podcast claiming that the Chinese population may be no more than 320 million by today. Thats certainly a revolting claim, and as this is an extraordinary statement, it needs extraordinary evidence. But even if things are not quite as extreme, China has a poison pill built in. It’s still nothing more than a glorified sweatshop to the world, which also means that its entire industrial and business structure is still export-oriented. Aside from the various bubbles inside the Chinese economy, there is no consumer economy as we know it, and there is certainly no cutting-edge innovation. It’s still copycat stealing others’ work. Such business models always have an expiry date. China cannot be saved.
