The world would be a much better place if at least part of Africa got its act together. There are some bright spots but taken together the continent stands more for poverty, misery, and all kinds of squalor imaginable than any other region on Earth. That by being endowed with an almost endless bounty of gifts in its soil. Or maybe that’s the problem. Countries like Switzerland have very little in terms of natural resources and they are incredibly rich. Having resources is great if you give yourself the structures that allow your best resource, the entrepreneurial spirits of your population, to blossom.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
