Yes, there is a lot of opportunity in Africa. And not only in hydrocarbons. But there has been boundless opportunity in Africa for many decades and how much has come of it? Africa must start to take its fate into its own hands and this would firstly mean empowering its own populations. Countries that mainly live off the exploitation of natural resources don’t need to trust their entrepreneurial class creating the wealth required to give the ruling cast its perks. Corruption exists anywhere but hydrocarbons have an amplifying effect if they are not moderated by an otherwise strong economy. It’s not the oil, it’s the people.
