Airbus Hopes to Be Flying Hydrogen-Powered Jetliners With Zero Carbon Emissions by 2035
Knowing how dangerous hydrogen is, would anyone want to travel with those beasts. I am not even talking about the price for a ticket – travel will become unaffordable again. All the problems like very high-pressure vessels (you need quite some volume) and the fact that hydrogen makes most stuff brittle plus the fact that it diffuses through virtually everything makes it no ideal fuel for planes. Methane is far, far safer and through LNG can be done. Want to go carbon-free? Use biomethane. It’s cheaper, it’s safer, it’s technologically advanced.
