Algeria Makes Ambitious Plans to Nearly Double LNG, Pipeline Exports

This is very nice and no doubt hard-pressed Europe will appreciate this. Most of all Italy and Spain would. That being said, there are big question marks over Algeria’s capability to reach the mark. Domestic gas consumption rises very strongly as the regime needs cheap energy to keep a restive population from revolting. Also, there are upstream issues. Algeria did not have a superstar discovery in a long while. Some very nice fields for sure but they need a new Hassi R Mel. Otherwise they will be hard-pressed on the volume side. That said, I wish them well.
