America’s Mineral And Metal Insecurity Is A National Security Threat. It Doesn’t Have To Be.
North America has pretty much anything anyone would want out of the earth’s crust. The reason why mining in North America declined so much and moved to other regions on Earth is not that there would be better reserves or seams. It’s because rules and regulations around mining grew into a monster. And also because other countries were much less concerned about safety and pollution. This brought also the prices for minerals required for the renewable revolution down. They are artificially low. The return of mining brings some cost reality back to green.
