When the Warsaw Pact countries fell one after another in 1989, the world was awestruck. It all started with Hungary which took many months to reach its climax, passed through countries like Czechoslovakia that took weeks going to reach Romania whose communist government fell in hours and saw its leaders executed. I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
