Let them do it – America should not be dependent on a customer as fickle as China is. The US would do a lot better if it used its Natural Gas (and LNG) to gasify its own internal transport market and send the oil abroad. LNG needs cozy and pretty longterm relationships. Oil does not need that and can be stored much easier. Every barrel of oil that can be sent abroad instead of LNG is a win. And the US becomes the cleanest nation in the world by any measure. Besides, China is in for some serious economic trouble as the world discovers the joy of short supply chains. An overly export-dependent economy such as Chinas won’t need a lot of oil and gas when the economy goes down. Let them have their party now – just wait how long their happy feelings will last.
