Automakers blast US plan to hike fuel efficiency rules

It’s a pretty unvarnished plan to kill the Internal Combustion Engine before it shall officially be dumped. Death by regulation. Hell, it becomes more and more obvious that Electric Vehicles won’t ever be affordable and public money won’t forever be available in large volumes so making their affordable competition unaffordable is a neat way to force the issue. But Biden pushes something that has peaked and is in decline. All these regulations will be repealed in time. Then again, this makes for a lot of volatility which is not good for the investment climate.

The industry group argued the plan would boost average vehicle prices by $3,000 by 2032 because of penalties automakers would face for not being in compliance.
