Berlin looks for alternatives as German gas storage hits record lows
Now, suddenly, it must all work out in mere days – when Germany could not get its act together on one single LNG terminal in more than 20 years. The Dutch have a big one, the French have 3, The Belgians have one, even the Polish have one and the biggest economic power in between them has none so far. Gas is still a long-term business. It requires planning – it requires some preparation, it requires people that don’t run after the latest headline only. Germany used to be the example for prudent planning – now it appears to be more like a spoiled toddler. You made your bed – now sleep in it.
