Bill McKibben: “Renewables are cheap, and everyone wants them, but there are big gaps in our ability to get it done”

No, renewables are anything but cheap. But what goes away are the different factors that helped mask them up as something supposedly cheap. China starts to fall apart as the manufacturing base of the world and we finally found out that their lower cost was nothing but relentless environmental destruction on an unseen scale and naked slavery. Plus, the hidden subsidies that covered renewables from facing their true costs like network adaption and balancing services become unbearable for the governing to bear. They always hoped that in time, the cost would come down for real but it did not. Now they have a thing that cannot be competitive come what may and they freak out over it.
