‘Bizarre’ and unbelievable: Gas-rich Australia’s looming need for LNG imports draws fire

Once again, I flew too close to the Sun. Almost 10 years ago I predicted that Australia would become a gas importer. I could not have predicted how crazy their policies would become in the end so I thought it would only be a small factor in the overall equation but that might change now too. Insane levels of wind and solar need a lot of Natural Gas as fast balancing energy is needed when wind and solar don’t provide anything. And storage of electricity is in any case way more expensive than just in time generation using reliable fuels. Let me make another prediction here and now – Australia will go back and burn coal to produce electricity.
