California’s Electricity Dreams Still Need Natural Gas

I have said this many times and I will say it many more times. To all those opposed to Natural Gas, I want you to live on wind and solar only. Cut yourself loose. Does not work – well then your entire communities shall be cut loose and live on 100% wind and solar. No gas backup. No paying of others for your sillies. And the zealots shall then go out and explain to everyone why there is no light, no heating, no aircon and no dinner when you need it most.

Already requiring 33% renewables by 2020 and 50% by 2030, California Governor Jerry Brown just signed SB 100, mandating that 100% of the state’s electricity comes from “carbon-free” sources by 2045, largely leaning on renewables like wind and solar. This truly is the Golden State’s energy challenge of a lifetime.
