Can Europe’s Green Deal adapt to a brutal new world?

The brutal reality is that in the short and mid-term, Europe is uncompetitive on the world market. Their production costs are too high and there is little prospect for that to change in the next decade or two. Europe’s reliability and innovation (especially Germanies) always made sure that despite higher costs the export machine never failed. But Europe has broken its innovation machine – willfully so – on the back of virtue signaling. Some smaller countries will be able to reform their economies around tourism or some other small oddity in their geographical position buzz the bigger economies are looking at a lot of misery. No secret sauce will change that. Not fast enough.
