Can gas solve South Africa’s power crisis?

All the gas on Earth cannot solve South Africa’s power crisis. Or Europe’s energy crisis for that matter. Let’s assume for the sake of this argument that gas was found in very economical volumes in South Africa and that it would be enough to cover all the country’s energy needs. What makes you believe that South Africans would deal with this any differently than with their unending coal bounty? The power crisis in South Africa is entirely man-made. None of what befalls the country today would be necessary if humans with just half a brain and some decency made the decisions. Politics has destroyed this country. It won’t be the last one.
