China Looks to Resell LNG
China finds out that gas cannot be stored as easily and conveniently as coal. Coal can be dumped on a heap and will patiently sit there until you need it. Gas needs underground storage which is much harder to build than just clearing a place and also cost more than a nickel. Welcome to the reality of a gas economy and a gas value chain. It’s complex and needs expertise and care. China will do what its peers in Asia do. They will have to over-purchase and resell the excess often at a loss. The better option would be to build underground gas storage as Europe has it.
