China Turns to LNG Spot Market With Prices at Three-Year Low

They might also turn to spot because they might know that the Chinese market is faltering and there won’t be such demand in the future anymore. Besides, if things are cheap it’s good business to gobble it up if storage is not an issue. But with LNG, storage is always an issue as the liquid is cryogenic and boils constantly and China does not have the geological possibility for large-scale underground gas storage. Coal is much easier to store.
