That was a non-starter. Older folks are not as easy to impress as the younger ones mostly because when you clock many summers, you remember all those other scares you have lived through and you know what happened in the end. It’s the story of the boy that shouted “Wolf”. Do it many times and nobody is going to listen to you anymore. The young ones have passion but it seems that they often lack the patience to look at the substance of what’s being proposed and they also lack the experience we old folks have. But all those older ones hold a vote in the next election. With our extremely old societies that will ensure pretty interesting results at elections coming up.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
