The revolution eats its children—thats what revolutions do. When you instill the fear of death in underdeveloped brains through narratives, there cannot ever be any compromise. There are also no extremes. When you fight certain death, there is nothing that is too much or over the top. There must always be something more extreme, something more daring to keep the bandwagon rolling. Sigourney must have thought that if she gives something she might be on the good side and be safe from attack. But as long as she does not pray to the most extreme form of the religion, she still is the enemy. You cannot manage crazy.
