Corruption Of Science By Money And Power

If humans and money are involved, humans and money will corrupt it. No matter what culture or country, no matter what time. That’s one of the constants of history. In fact, I have always been astounded by how many people still believe that there are things that are above suspicion. Try doing anything even remotely interesting in science without money. Most of the time you won’t get far if anywhere. And because science is so dependent on funding, money can play it like a puppeteer. Oh, and don’t underestimate vanity. Climate scientists have never been important – now they are. Do you think they want facts to come between them and their new fame?

One might ask if the Rockefeller Foundation, once a friend of science, society and industry, is now a powerful enemy.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
