‘Dead Cow’ Awakens as Pipelines Revive Argentina’s Shale Hopes

Shale, if done the right way, would do much to give not only the Argentinian economy a shot in the arm. It’s close enough to the demand centers in Brazil and Uruguay. But even more critical than exporting gas would be attracting industries to Argentina. It’s far off but if energy is cheap and stable enough and politicians can finally half-fix Argentina’s long love story with political populism, this could still be big. Still, I am not holding my breath. We had many glimmers of hope in this part of the world, but it mostly became arson so far.
