Do not smooth times series, you hockey puck!

In 2015 the New Horizons probe flew by Pluto. Up to this point, all we had was very hazy pictures and a lot of proxy data. The flyby and the in situ measurements have turned everything we thought we knew on its head. The Pluto system and hence the entire dwarf planet world was very different from what we had thought we knew from the proxies. It’s good to theorize about everything as long as we cannot know by other means but we must never forget that this proxy data is nothing but an opinion that may just as well be totally false. We took it for evidence though – which they are not. I don’t even want to get started with the ample opportunity for fraud when putting those proxies together.

Welcome to the week of classical posts on global warming, now “climate change”, a subject which I had hoped had faded into obscurity, but, alas, has not. Your author has many bona fides…

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
