Allow me to pour some cold water on that analysis. Maybe Iran intends to do any such thing but guess who would be hurt most in case of such a blockade? Exactly – China and India would be more than just pricked in the finger. India has the most powerful local Navy in the region and China while not being capable of global force projection is still a power to be reckoned with and has bases in Pakistan and Djibouti. Besides, China is one of the most important partners of Iran for pretty much anything. How long do you think the Iranians would be able to hold out if those two ganged up on them? The US and Europe would not have to lift a finger.
