Economic expansion boosts carbon emissions, despite green-tech gains
We got a choice: we can go on living the relatively cushy modern lives we had so far and accept that the world around us will change slightly as a result of that, or we can commit mass suicide for 90% of the worlds population and the rest will go back to a life we had around 1500. Modern life has consequences. Time to wake up to that and to start exploring how we can live with what we have instead of chasing rainbows and giving some fools gold traders very comfortable free incomes.
No matter that coal-fired power plants went out of business in record numbers, or that Americans nearly doubled their purchases of electric cars. The U.S. increased its carbon dioxide emissions in 2018, and a large part of the reason was one normally cited as a bonus — substantial economic growth.
