Egypt rushes to catch up on solar energy as gas prices soar

Solar energy is part of a scheme that is driving rich, advanced economies with plenty of expertise in handling complex situations against the wall. We see more and more developed countries getting out of it or at least considering an exit. Egypt is not a developed economy by any standard. It can barely feed its population. There is hardly any leftover cash and the Egyptian economy is hitting a rough patch anyhow. How are they even thinking of using solar? Besides, you know what happens when you put solar panels into the desert? Sand builds up on the panels rather quickly. Keeping them clean is not cheap either. We don’t even talk about the batteries.
