Electric Vehicles Won’t Save Us — We Need to Get Rid of Cars Completely
I live in a very central, very well connected quality part of Vienna, a city of 2 million. I have two subway lines less than 10 minutes walking distance from my home and tram plus bus services right in front of my door. I can walk most of the daily stuff I do as much of the places I need to go to often are just a walk away. Well-to-do city dwellers often cannot even imagine how the majority of the population lives. I grew up in the sticks and I remember that those people are utterly dependent on their cars. But they don’t make policy. Kill the car and our civilization goes down the drain.
