EU: Commission Puts Fossil Fuel Subsidies Under Spotlight
Ah, the old subsidies issue again. I am sure we will see a whole lot of fancy figures and when they are not enough for the püoliticians taste, a bunch of externalities will be conjured out of thin air and voila. What they always seem to forget is that they open Pandora’s box. Who says negative externalities must also say positive externalities and that opens the question if there would be even a civilization without hydrocarbons. How much of the current world economy would not even exist? How many people alive today could not live? Let’s run the numbers – you own hydrocarbons a lot of money.
