EU, Egypt Near Gas Supply Deal in Shift Away From Russia
I understand that Egypt wants to make some cash by selling its natural gas. Fair enough. But let’s take a wider look at the Egyptian economy. Egypt had to curtail gas exports already once as its own needs surpassed its production. Egypt is also the biggest Arab country population-wise by a very large margin. And its population is concentrated mostly in the Nile valley and on the coasts. That would be easy to develop LNG as a fuel for heavy transport. Whoever had enjoyed the air in Cairo for a while also knows that NG vehicles would do a lot of good there and save money too.
