EU Eyes First-of-a-Kind Border Levy in Climate Fight
The mechanism is that of a Border Adjustment Tax. And only as a mechanism its very sound. It’s actually a needed countermeasure to give producers of anything a decent chance to compete with producers from dumping countries. The tale of upgrading has proven to be exactly that – a tale. The only sore point is that the underlying cause could not be more vicious. Carbon. And the way I know politicians is once they have a new source of money they won’t let go. Europe is in for some very sad decades.
