That’s the spin. Another, more realistic way to see it is that energy consumption in Europe as a whole has gone down dramatically because of the economic depression the continent finds itself in. Poor people consume much less energy and hence it does not need to be produced anymore. Hence, emissions go down. But fanatics will jump on any opportunity to put praise on their wares, however undeserved it may be. By the way, there are reasons why Europe is in the economic crapper. A big one is the reckless printing of money to pay for all the wind and solar bling as well as all those combustible Electric Vehicles. So in a sense, the extremists are right. Their policies made life in Europe so expensive that people can’t afford it anymore so consumption comes down. They are responsible for lower emissions after all.
