This may sound like spoiling a party but aside from the massive challenge of building such a network in the first place, there will also be the non unconsiderable challenge of making it leak proof. See, Natural Gas is very benign. It does not corrode anything it touches and lends itself excellently to transform in steel pipes. Hydrogen on the other side – not quite. There is a problem called hydrogen embrittlement – which cannot be solved but managed. To a degree. And for quite a lot of money. And remember, it can only be made to sleep, it cannot be eliminated.
