Europe is fast-becoming a natural gas battleground for Russia and the US
Another prediction I was smiled upon for only two years ago. Europe will be the battleground for gas and I even gave it the title “Battleground Europe” at the time. But the rivalry between Russia and the US is the least exciting part of this entire game. Europe is still slumbering but when it awakes and starts to grow into its shoes as the flexibility option of the LNG world, it will blast the old LNG world to smithereens and call in a new age of LNG as its most important innovator and bellwether.
With 28 countries and a combined population of around 512 million people, the European Union is something of a prized market — and political battleground — for the world’s largest energy exporters, particularly when it comes to natural gas.
