Europe tops buyers for U.S. LNG with winter cargo influx
They don’t want to establish a foothold in Europe. They really want much higher prices in Asia, but they don’t get them so Europe is the one thing that keeps them from switching trains off. When the Asian sucking sound is back on, they will treat Europe like it has contracted leprosy again. And that’s OK as providing that kind of safety valve to LNG is the best that Europe can do. We just should not believe its love that makes US producers dump LNG in Europe, its pure self-interest. And that’s just fair enough.
Energy companies are flooding Europe with U.S. natural gas, establishing a foothold in a market dominated by Russia and seen as a key battleground in Washington’s efforts to curb Moscow’s energy influence.
