Europe’s power crisis overtaking gas crisis

Renewable electricity advocates always tried to find something they could blame for the failings of the grid. Now they have the Ukraine crisis when the true culprit is our obsession with unreliable energy forms. As long as we don’t start to factor all the costs caused by wind and solar into their cost stack and charge it to them, this will continue. Backing up unreliable energy costs money. Sloshing electricity around through very long-distance cables costs money. It’s a very large hidden subsidy.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
