Europe’s Smelters Call for Action to Combat Soaring Energy Costs
Forget processing anything energy-intensive in Europe. You would need very low wages to be able to do that and Europe is just not the place. All this business will move to the USGC where energy is cheap, clean, and reliable and wages are still OK compared to Europe. Or to Asian countries that are prepared to slug it out on the environment and on wages – things Europe is not prepared to match. Forget any heavy industry in Europe for the next 30 years. Thats the time it will take for Europe to detoxify from its current bout of madness. The question is what will remain of the continent’s economy then?
