Evidence The Expertocracy Is Real
A younger me was the most meritocratic being of all. I strongly identified with it and always made sure that I was the best informed and most knowledgeable person no matter what I did, where I did it, and how I did it. It was my religion. In a sense, but more for the love of learning and not for competitive reasons. Imagine my shock when it dawned on me that real expertise is frowned upon. The experts we get to see today are show-people. They push narratives and shy away from open debate. It’s not an expertocracy we live in – it’s an idiocracy.
