Expensive Cheap Energy

I was a nerdy kid. That means that when I was around 10 years old I was subscribed to virtually any science magazine I could lay my hands on. That ate up a sizeable chunk of my pocket money. But I was just fascinated with all things that made us advance as a species or at least that appeared to make us advance. Sure enough, at about this age I read about wind energy, solar, hydrogen, and battery cars. All the supposedly good stuff. That was close to half a century in the past. Sure enough, we were supposed to have all those things unsubsidized in about 10 years. That was close to 40 years in the past. We are not even close today.
