Exploding batteries spark deadly S Korea factory fire

Don’t say we were not warned. We have known for a long time that combining the fuel and the oxidizer in one package is a recipe for disaster and there will be a lot more than that. What when such battery packs blow up in a hospital? Or a school? What if a heavy truck on batteries is parked before a retirement home and goes up in flames? Or in a tunnel? Or under a bridge. Will we have to take down the bridge as its structural integrity will be in jeopardy after the fire? Or the tunnel ceiling – will it hold up? Batteries are a good thing but they should be small and we should not use the fanciest technologies.
