Extinction Rebellion want to get arrested to fight climate change
During the mid-18th century the Luddites started to smash textile producing machines in order to make the owners and society at large aware of their issues with machines. Machines were to destroy humanity. Instead, humans live longer, happier, healthier and more fulfilled lives than ever before in history due to exactly those machines. Not only were the Luddites wrong, they would have condemned humanity to ongoing squalor as it existed for the majority of people since the dawn of time. This is a new Luddite movement which cannot look beyond their very narrow world view. They are not a majority of people, far from it. And this minority wants to dictate what the majority is to do. Not very democratic but what do we expect. We need a Thatcher style response.
Earlier this month a group of climate change activists stripped down to their underwear in British parliament and glued their hands to the glass of the House of Commons’ public gallery.
