ExxonMobil increases Permian presence with $60 billion Pioneer Natural Resources all-stock purchase

Most people have no idea what the Permian represents in the US energy scene. It’s one of the biggest fields on Earth on par with some of the supergiant fields we usually expect to find in the Middle East. And it has plenty of growth potential. EXXON knows quite well that the world cannot be without hydrocarbons. And they took this step even in the currently very hostile political environment in the US. Imagine what they do when the political overlords are more friendly.

At close, ExxonMobil’s Permian production volume would more than double to 1.3 MMboed, based on 2023 volumes, and is expected to increase to approximately 2 MMboed in 2027.
