ExxonMobil to establish singular North American research and technology hub in Houston, Texas

The Oil & Gas world is drifting apart. On one side there are the traditional companies that do business as usual, the National Oil Companies, and some multinationals that are swimming in cash not for their competitiveness but for their often monopolistic grip on some home market. They are technological laggards and will need ever more outside input from the tech leaders. Those will be players in North America mainly that do what no one else does. They start to understand the un-understandable. They start to develop knowledge about subsoil and rock behavior that’s so granular that they can micromanage every single borehole even when hundreds are made. This is a new paradigm and it is American in nature.

Exxon Mobil Corp. plans to establish a single North American research and technology hub at its Houston headquarters, resulting in the closure of campuses in Clinton, New Jersey, and Sarnia in Ontario.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network.
