Fact Checking the Fact Checkers

The only useful tool to ensure that anyone providing a product or a service does so with minimum standards of quality and reliability (or veracity in this case) is strict liability. When someone calls up so-called fact-checkers in order to moderate content and makes decisions based on the recommendations of the fact-checkers, they are not disinterested third parties. Strict liability should apply. The courts should settle claims. It’s time that everyone plays by the same rules.
