Failed Wind & Solar Transition Heralds Shift to New-Age Nuclear Power

I like nuclear power. I really do. It’s wonderfully reliable energy and if done sensibly, it massively improves a country’s energy infrastructure. Besides, many big nations such as Germany have few other options as we will find out rather soon. That said, nuclear has two issues to grapple with. First is the regulatory long tail. It takes many years of paperwork until a nuclear project can even be envisaged plus there is plenty of opportunity for activists to mess that process up. Making it more expensive and longer still. Plus, even without this massive long tail, it takes quite a while to get from project concept to commissioning in nuclear. Gas turbines are much, much faster.
