France’s Macron learns the hard way: green taxes carry political risks
It goes deeper. People feel the price of so called green policies and then they dont see anything tangible. They hear that carbon emissions went up, most of the stuff that is being done by spending all those billions are vastly insufficient and their lives go down the drain meanwhile. People dont believe the BS propagated by the elites anymore. If the political classes dont switch towards policies that save the planet and let the people live at the same time, they wont tolerate it much longer. Expect more of this – expect it in other countries too.
When Emmanuel Macron rose to power, he put the environment at the heart of his agenda. Eighteen months later, anger over those policies has stoked protests that are a huge challenge for the French president.
