Fury after Exxon chief says public to blame for climate failures

As a libertarian and a minarchist at that, I oppose taxes as a matter of principle. The state should be able to finance itself through duties and dues for services rendered. That said, I know this is unrealistic as it would require a sense of community that’s simply not possible in a modern world. So if a tax it has to be let’s put some qualificators around that. First, this tax should be payable quarterly so it’s an appreciable amount that hurts but it comes frequently enough to prevent people from ever relaxing. Also, it should be made a sum that must explicitly be paid not in conjunction with something else so people know that they shell out for CO2, and there should be an interdiction to bind this tax to consumption prices. But that won’t happen so let’s stop dreaming.
